If I signed up to RIDE last year do I need to register again this year?
Yes, each person will need to register again this year and create a new user profile. You will create your username and password as part of the registration process.
How do I donate to a team?
The best way to donate to a team is to find the team on the Team Listing page. Search for the team, or scroll through the Team Leaderboard or All Teams tabs. Click on Donate once you have found your team. Your donation will go towards the project that the team has choosen to support.
What happens if it’s raining on RIDE day?
The RIDE will go ahead rain or shine. The ONLY thing holding us back would be extreme weather conditions. We want to keep everyone safe, so in the event that hail, storms, floods, bushfires or plagues prevent us from holding an event where you will be safe, we will cancel the event and let you all know as soon as possible.
Is there a child friendly RIDE?
Each of the RIDE locations will have a short safe course so children can participate. Parents must be responsible for their children at all times, whether on the kids course or the main route.
How long will it take me to RIDE the course?
On average allow 1-1.5 hours for the 25km loop, 2-3 hours for the 50km loop, 3-5 hours for the 75km loop and 3-6 hours for the 100km loop. ALL RIDERS must be off the course by 3pm except for Sydney where riding time is between 7am - 11am.
Do I need to wear a helmet?
Australian law requires that all riders wear helmets. We want the RIDE to be a safe and fun day for everyone, so please make sure you bring and wear your helmet otherwise you will not be able to paticipate.
What happens if my bike breaks down?
We encourage all riders to ensure that their bikes are in good condition before the RIDE, but RIDE Rangers and sweep vehicles will be located at the Start/Finish and on the course for the duration of the RIDE in case of mechanical failure.
If you need assistance, please turn your bike upside down to signal that you require assistance.
What happens if I get hurt?
Basic first aid supplies will be available at each drinks station and carried by RIDE Rangers and sweep vehicles. Trained First Aid officers will be stationed at the Info Tent and will be transported to you if necessary.
Do I have to RIDE with my team?
No – you may end up staying together for part or all of the RIDE but you are not required to stay with your team for the duration. Everyone will be at different levels of fitness and ability.
Are there stops along the route?
Yes – a drinks station is situated along the route half-way to the turn-around point for Brisbane. Free snacks and water will be available there. Riders will be free to rest there and public toilets will be marked on the RIDE Route map. Sydney and Toowoomba will have snacks/toilets etc at the Start/Finish.
Is food provided?
Yes! There will be a food and drinks available during the day at RIDE. This will be free for all Riders and Volunteers, and we ask for a gold coin donation from supporters. Snacks and drinks are provided at the Remote Drinks Station (Brisbane) along the route or at the start/finish (Sydney/Toowoomba).
How do I get people to support me?
All sponsorship can be done online via secure credit card transactions. Simply send your family and friends a link to your personal profile by email or social media. To generate this link, copy your personal URL from the browser once registration for the RIDE has been completed. It'll look something like http://www.rideforrefugees.com.au/rider/XXX .
If people would prefer to donate with either cash or cheque, please download a donation form here and bring it (with cash/cheque) along on RIDE Day. Please ensure cheques are made out to "RIDE for Refugees".
What do I do with cash and cheques received after RIDE day?

When do I show up on the day?
If you are in Toowoomba or Brisbane, check-in opens at 8:00am, and you'll be riding out at 9:00am.
Sydney check-in opens at 6:45am with riding on the course beginning at 7am and completed by 11am.

Is my donation tax-deductible?
We partner with a wide range of projects that support refugees, both here and overseas. Some of these projects have tax-deductibility status. Therefore, depending on the project that the rider/team you are supporting has chosen to ride for, your donation may be tax-deductible. For more information, see Our Projects page.

Family rate becomes "worthwhile" at 1 Adult + 3 Children or 2 Adults + 1 Child - anything less than this will be cheaper to register separately

Please note that the registration fee only covers the running of the event and does not include a fundraising component. You will need to raise funds separately to ensure much needed funds reach frontline refugee projects.

You can do it! But you must have raised your funds by the time you sign-in on RIDE day - we'll look at your online profile, and add any cash/cheques you bring with you on the day. We cannot give out gifts after the RIDE event.
